Section-by-Section Bun

The sock bun seems to be the cool thing to do right now, but I have a seriously hard time getting it to work! Here is an alternative to get the same look with slightly less frustration!

Ingredients:
1 hair tie
7-10 bobby pins (depending on how thick you want the sections to be)

Directions:
1. pull hair into a ponytail - you can do a low, medium, or high pony -- it works for all!
2. take a section of hair from the ponytail, and wrap it around you fingers so it looks like a loose curl
3. pin the section of hair down with a bobby pin
4. continue "curling" sections of hair and pinning them to you head until you make a bun
5. use additional bobby pins to secure hair sections and close any gaps

Time to complete: 5minutes

Note. You can use a large curling iron to actually curl hair sections and pin them down that way; it will probably make for "cleaner" curled sections.

Braid & Bun

My hair was a mess this morning, and I quickly was able to throw my hair up in a high bun.

Ingredients:
1 hair tie
1 bobby pin (optional)

Directions:
1. gather some hair at the top of your head
2. do a loose french braid, pulling up about 2-3 sections of hair
3. gather rest of hair into a high ponytail
4. twist hair into a bun
5. use a bobby pin to secure hair that may fall on your neck

Alternative version - low bun with longer braid:

Ingredients:

1 hair tie

4-6 bobby pins (use as many as you need)

Directions:

1. split hair in half across you head (from ear to ear)

2. with bottom half hair, use hair tie to make a loose bun

3. create a loose french braid with the top half hair, stopping shortly after all hair is brought into the braid

4. twist the rest of the braided hair around low bun & pin with bobby pins
