Hello! Welcome to my blog! (super awkward...but I don't really know the best way to start off these things...)
My name is Tisha, and I have loved playing around with different hair styles for as long as I can remember. I usually keep things low-key when it comes to my own hair. I usually stick to a basic ponytail or messy bun - it's a rare occasion when I actually attempt to do something fun and fancy...and by fun and fancy I mean wearing my hair down or simply styled. However, I LOVE to do other people's hair, and have been playing around more with simple styles I can try out on my own head.
I'm currently in graduate school for psychology, and am finishing up my third year of a doctoral program. I love what I do, and I'm looking forward to the time (hopefully soon!) where I can become licensed and actually have a "real job." Being in graduate school can really limit the free time I have, so I’m always looking for fun, simple things to do, whether it’s hair styles, food recipes, DIY crafts, or social activities. I have been spending some time on Pinterest and other sites seeing what fun things I can try. While I do enjoy looking for styles online, I often get frustrated when: a) the style doesn't work out as they say it will; b) you basically need a professional stylist to achieve the look in the picture; and/or there are too many styling products, clips, and bands to keep track of them all!
Hence, my decision to start a blog devoted to fun, easy 'dos that you can actually do! As a way to keep things simple and find things that I can do quickly in the morning or before heading out at night, I was particularly interested in styles that can be done in 20 minutes or less, and have minimal products involved.
Most of the pictures on my blog are of my head. (Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for playing photographer from time-to-time!!) If they’re not of my head, then they’re of the head of a person whose hair I just styled! I have no formal cosmetology training. Everything I've learned to do is simply through trial & error and some practice!
To provide some context: My hair is about 2-3 inches past my shoulders, is very thick, and is naturally wavy/curly. When I blow-dry my hair, it's usually a delightfully poofy frizzball. If I want my hair to be straight, I need to use a straightener. If I want loose curls I usually have to use a curling iron (usually no more than 1" around) to make ringlets and let them naturally fall over time. Beachy waves don't really work for my hair :(. I wanted to put that out there so you know what type of hair I'm working with. As I've learned, not all styles will work for all hair types! When appropriate, I'll be sure to provide links to the sites where I originally found the styles I've posted here.
Enjoy!
